Chapter 3

1 Behold,1492 what4217 manner4217 of love26 the Father3962 has bestowed1325 on us, that we should be called2564 the sons5043 of God:2316 therefore1223 5124 the world2889 knows1097 us not, because3754 it knew1097 him not.

2 Beloved,27 now3568 are we the sons5043 of God,2316 and it does not yet3768 appear5319 what5101 we shall be: but we know1492 that, when1437 he shall appear,5319 we shall be like3664 him; for we shall see3700 him as he is.

3 And every3956 man that has2192 this5026 hope1680 in him purifies48 himself,1438 even2531 as he is pure.53

4 Whoever3956 3588 commits4160 sin266 transgresses458 4160 also2532 the law:4160 458 for sin266 is the transgression458 of the law.4160 458

5 And you know1492 that he was manifested5319 to take142 away our sins;266 and in him is no3956 3756 sin.266

6 Whoever3956 3588 stays3306 in him sins264 not: whoever3956 3588 sins264 has not seen3708 him, neither3761 known1097 him.

7 Little5040 children,5040 let no3367 man3367 deceive4105 you: he that does4160 righteousness1343 is righteous,1342 even2531 as he is righteous.1342

8 He that commits4160 sin266 is of the devil;1228 for the devil1228 sins264 from the beginning.746 For this5124 purpose the Son5207 of God2316 was manifested,5319 that he might destroy3089 the works2041 of the devil.1228

9 Whoever3956 3588 is born1080 of God2316 does not commit4160 sin;266 for his seed4690 remains3306 in him: and he cannot3756 1410 sin,264 because3754 he is born1080 of God.2316

10 In this5129 the children5043 of God2316 are manifest,5318 and the children5043 of the devil:1228 whoever3956 3588 does4160 not righteousness1343 is not of God,2316 neither he that loves25 not his brother.80

11 For this846 is the message31 that you heard191 from the beginning,746 that we should love25 one240 another.240

12 Not as Cain,2535 who was of that wicked4190 one, and slew4969 his brother.80 And why5484 5101 slew4969 he him? Because3754 his own works2041 were evil,4190 and his brother's80 righteous.1342

13 Marvel2296 not, my brothers,80 if1487 the world2889 hate3404 you.

14 We know1492 that we have passed3327 from death2288 to life,2222 because3754 we love25 the brothers.80 He that loves25 not his brother80 stays3306 in death.2288

15 Whoever3956 3588 hates3404 his brother80 is a murderer:443 and you know1492 that no3956 3756 murderer443 has2192 eternal166 life2222 abiding3306 in him.

16 Hereby1722 5129 perceive1097 we the love26 of God, because3754 he laid5087 down his life5590 for us: and we ought3784 to lay5087 down our lives5590 for the brothers.80

17 But whoever3739 302 has2192 this3588 world's2889 good,979 and sees2334 his brother80 have2192 need,5532 and shuts2808 up his bowels4698 of compassion from him, how4459 dwells3306 the love26 of God2316 in him?

18 My little5040 children,5040 let us not love25 in word,3056 neither3366 in tongue;1100 but in deed2041 and in truth.225

19 And hereby1722 5129 we know1097 that we are of the truth,225 and shall assure3982 our hearts2588 before1715 him.

20 For if1437 our heart2588 condemn2607 us, God2316 is greater3187 than our heart,2588 and knows1097 all3956 things.

21 Beloved,27 if1437 our heart2588 condemn2607 us not, then have2192 we confidence3954 toward4314 God.2316

22 And whatever3739 1437 we ask,154 we receive2983 of him, because3754 we keep5083 his commandments,1785 and do4160 those3588 things that are pleasing701 in his sight.1799

23 And this3778 is his commandment,1785 That we should believe4100 on the name3686 of his Son5207 Jesus2424 Christ,5547 and love25 one240 another,240 as he gave1325 us commandment.1785

24 And he that keeps5083 his commandments1785 dwells3306 in him, and he in him. And hereby1722 5129 we know1097 that he stays3306 in us, by the Spirit4151 which3739 he has given1325 us.

19 由此可知、我從眞理、則於主前、我心亦安、

12 Not as Cain,2535 who was of that wicked4190 one, and slew4969 his brother.80 And why5484 5101 slew4969 he him? Because3754 his own works2041 were evil,4190 and his brother's80 righteous.1342

12 昔該隱從惡鬼而殺厥弟、殺之何故、非因弟行善、而自行惡乎、爾勿效之、

13 Marvel2296 not, my brothers,80 if1487 the world2889 hate3404 you.

13 凡我良朋、舉世惡爾、勿詫爲奇、

14 We know1492 that we have passed3327 from death2288 to life,2222 because3754 we love25 the brothers.80 He that loves25 not his brother80 stays3306 in death.2288
